My Film-Making Weekend in Glasgow

May 31st, 2010

At the weekend I went to Glasgow to attend a documentary film making school. It was run by Diversity Films as part of their Starting Block scheme.

I enjoyed taking part in this event, and I learnt lots of new skills. I pitched my idea for a short documentary/drama about the problems disabled teenagers face in getting onto college courses that will give them the skills to follow their ambitions and interests. I think they really liked my idea!

Below is a photo of me operating one of the cameras.

Filming in Glasgow

Getting involved in more stuff

May 27th, 2010

Yesterday I found out that I have got a place on a 2-day documentary film-making training school in Glasgow this weekend. It is run by Diversity Films as part of their starting block scheme for new film-makers. I am really excited about this.

This Morning I went to the AGM of the Gilmerton Community Centre and guess what? I was voted on to their management committee. I am looking forward to taking part in the monthly meetings.  In their Annual Report their was a photograph of me at Wheels & Sticks and it also mentioned the film I made about the group.

My Busy and lazy Weekend

May 23rd, 2010

On Saturday I went to a open day at Bridgend Allotments It was very hot and sunny and I enjoyed spending time outside.

I also really enjoyed watching the Your Game VS Match of the Day on TV that included my Boccia Join In film and also me in the MOTD studio interviewing Lee Dixon with other young people.  I felt like a TV star for the day.

Today we relaxed in the garden and had a bar-be-que lunch, before going to my Boccia Club.

Art in the Morning

May 20th, 2010

This morning I went to my art group, Wheels & Sticks.

When I got there I showed them my film about Wheels & Sticks and the group liked it and also asked me to make copies of the film for them.

Then Linda the group leader got us drawing different shapes.  I liked this activity because  it got me all creative.

Here are some pictures of me with Linda and Maggie.

Victoria Day

May 17th, 2010

Today I got all ready to go to college for my Directions course.  After breakfast I sat and waited for my taxi to arrive. I kept looking out of the window but no taxi came. I waited and waited but still no taxi.  Dad tried to phone the Council transport department but there was no reply. Then we realised it was Victoria Day, a local pubilc holiday to celebrate Queen Victoria.  So the Council was shut and had canceled my taxi booking without checking to see if my college was open. I therefore had to miss my college course today.

I AM NOT AMUSED!!

My first Meeting with FSDC.

May 14th, 2010

Today I went to My first meeting with FSDC which stands for

for Scotland’s Disabled Children

I went to the meeting because I am one of their steering group members.

I went to this meeting to see what their meetings were like.

I think the meeting went well because I was with my support worker called Mo  and I did not have My Mum and dad!

I will go to more meeting with FSDC.
