Audio copy methods and their uses were examined in Conor’s class.  The differences in sound quality and sizes when compressing by bit size, 128, 192, and 320.  Also the comparison with wav download.   Sizes of files varied from 2.9 , 4.7, 5.8 to 25.9 MB for the wav.   These were lossy compression with the exception of wav which is a lossless compression which copies sound and quality exactly.   This is however a much larger file.   Previously due to storage sizes the mp3 was the best option for compressing however now due to larger storage options i.e terrabyte etc the wav format will allow better quality music with no loss of sound etc.

We also disucssed different formats and methods for compressing audio.   The origins and the first mp3 song Tom’s Diner by Suzanne Vega.
